Proximity of absence

I was sitting around, doing next to nothing, and decided I too had ideas for the world to hear and therefore needed a blog. Clearly, today I am not limiting myself to good ideas.

So Ashley is over again today. She is using Rob's old laptop and we are both playing computers and it is kind of fun. Every once in a while she will IM me even though we are sitting right next to eachother. Today we made cheesy hashbrown and took them to a potluck BBBS picnic. It was kind of fun because it is a nice day, but most of the littles were a lot younger than Ashley, so we did not make any new friends to hang out with. Too bad. The highlight of the event was definately the water balloon toss. Ashley and I are about equally coordinated, which means that we did not make it more than a couple of rounds, but it was still fun.
Afterwards, we went and got bubble tea, or pearl drinks as the west coast kids would call them. That was pretty tasty. And now we are back here surfing the web. Hours of entertainment :)

Truth is stranger than fiction, and I like knowing as many people's stories as is practical.
My little sister Ashley told me I needed a blog. You should check out her blog (ashelysbloggeh.blogspot.com) and then think about becoming a Big yourself (www.bbbsa.org).
I don't usually promote things I am involved in, but then it was called to my attention that maybe I should, so that is my attempt at trying it out. How did it work out?

It seems that everyone who is anyone is blogging these days. Sending their thoughts out into cyberspace to see if they get any response. I started reading some blogs other people, some of which I know, and some of which I don't know yet. And I thought, hey, that looks easy. Until I was confronted with this blank page. Now I realize it really is work to put together a coherant blog (Scott Adams). Will this serve as a space to catalog my social action ideas? To mark time as it passes? To communicate with long lost friends? Likely, like most of the internet, it will not live up to expectations and instead become a huge time sink But here is to the hope that this may be a useful endevor.
